‘I think we are very close’ to a deal – Greek FinMin Varoufakis
FXStreet (Mumbai) - Speaking in a late-night interview program, Greece Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis said that an agreement with Greece's creditors may reached within the next week, just in time to save the debt-ridden country from defaulting on its debts.
Varoufakis noted, “I think we are very close," "Let's say it's about a week."
The finance minister added that creditors also appear to be close to a "reforms-for-cash" deal. He insisted that the government would reject any compromise that it considers to be "non-viable."
"I assure you that if we face a dilemma between paying a creditor who refuses to sign an agreement with us and a pensioner, we will pay the pensioner,"
"I hope we will be able to pay both."
