Annualized UK industrial production rises above expectations in Oct

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) published the UK industrial and manufacturing production data on Friday, showing that the overall industrial activity improved sharply in the month of Oct, with the manufacturing figures matched expectations.

Manufacturing output arrived at 0.1% m/m in Oct versus a 0.7% gain seen in Sept, while total industrial output came in flat at 0.0% in the reported month, against a 0.7% increase seen previously.

On an annualized basis, UK manufacturing production figures came in at 3.9% in Oct, meeting expectations. Total industrial output also increased by 3.6% in Oct, beating expectations of a 3.5% reading and against the previous 2.5% print.
